Personal Auto Insurance

Auto insurance is one of the most used types of personal insurance. It is required to purchase insurance coverage to drive legally in the state for a minimum of liability.

BODILY INJURY LIABILITY INSURANCE

Protects you against the claims of other people who are injured in an accident for which you were at fault. Their claims for bodily injury may include medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering.

PROPERTY DAMAGE LIABILITY INSURANCE

Pays for any damage you cause to the property of others. This includes not only damages to other vehicles, but also other property such as walls, fences and equipment.

UNINSURED MOTORIST’S COVERAGE

Protects the policy holder directly. This coverage pays if you are injured by a hit-and-run driver or a driver who does not have auto insurance. Property damage coverage may include both collision coverage and comprehensive coverage.

COLLISION COVERAGE

Pays for physical damage to your car as the result of your auto colliding with an object, such as a tree or another car. This coverage is optional and not required by law.

COMPREHENSIVE COVERAGE

Pays for damage to your auto from almost all other causes, including fire, severe weather, vandalism, floods and theft. Comprehensive coverage also will cover broken glass, such as windshield damage.

RENTAL CAR REIMBURSEMENT

Covers the cost of a rental car should you have a collision or comprehensive claim and are unable to use your car.

TOWING

Most policies include this for a minimal cost based on reimbursement for services related to towing.

Motorcycle Insurance

Motorcyclists are required to carry a minimum amount of liability insurance, to cover bodily injury and property damage costs caused to other people involved in an accident. In addition, uninsured/underinsured (UI/UIM) motorist coverage is recommended as part of a motorcyclist’s insurance policy to cover expenses for damage caused by another driver who does not have insurance or whose insurance is inadequate.

OPTIONAL COVERAGES

  • Collision—covers damage resulting from a collision with another vehicle, an object or as a result of flipping over.

  • Comprehensive—covers damage caused by events such as fire, flood, falling objects, theft or vandalism.

  • First-party medical coverage—covers your own medical expenses if they were incurred in an accident while operating your motorcycle.

  • Emergency road service—covers towing and roadside assistance costs.

  • Accessories and customization—covers the repair or replacement of accessories, like helmets and safety jackets, and customized equipment added to the motorcycle after purchase, such as exhaust pipes, saddle bags, and seats.
